10 Brilliant Buckwheat Recipes

Estimated read time 1 min read

Buckwheat belongs to a food group called pseudocereals.  That is to say that buckwheat is neither a cereal nor a grain but is eaten and used in the same way.  When you eat buckwheat, you are consuming the triangle-like seeds of the buckwheat plant.
Interestingly, the buckwheat plant is related to rhubarb and sorrel and has no connection to true wheat at all.  That is great news for gluten-free people and those with celiac disease.
Buckwheat is a healthy source of carbs and fiber.  Though it is low in vitamins, it is richer in many minerals than corn, rice, and wheat.
